2011 President, Suzanne McKean's Message to CRADI

I would like to share with you in this message CRAHDI's 2011 accomplishments.  We have had a very interesting year.  We were able to send our delegate, Brenda Wynn, CMT, to Advocacy in Washington DC in May of this year.  There was a great response from the legislators and an important opportunity for us as Medical Transcriptions/Medical Language Specialists to enlighten everyone about the importance of the Health Story.  Now that the EMR/HER is on everyone’s minds and Meaningful Use being talked about by all of the health care industry it is doubly important that everyone understands what we can bring to the plate to make health care in this country better.  Brenda has agreed to be our social media specialist ( brenda.wynn@trcr.com ) this coming year, 2012, and already has put in many hours on our CRAHDI Facebook page please visit it and check it out.

Our delegate, Loretta Foulkrod, was sent to ACE by CRAHDI as it has been an important time in AHDI's history.  Not only was she our delegate, but she has worked diligently this year as 2010-2011 AHDI-HOD National Strategic Initiatives Committee Chair for the new governance of AHDI.  She gave uncounted hours of diligence on this committee in order to bring this new governance forth for a vote by the individual members of our association.

It has passed and we now have a great future to work towards—we're in the 21st century working for and with you the members for our professional identity and what we bring to health care.  We now have districts with 1 elected person over each district, ours is Ann Donnelly, and no longer have a house of delegates.  Loretta was able to meet our new CEO for AHDI but unfortunately she found it necessary to leave; therefore, Linda Brady is now our Acting Director with Wendy Carriegan, COO.  A search committee for the next CFO has been formed.

We had planned a great Symposium for this month of November, but were unable to have enough participation to have it and therefore cancelled.  It is truly difficult economic times for everyone and no different for us professionals, medical language specialists.  We have planned to do Webinars with the speakers that we had set up for the symposium so keep looking at this website for more details.  We will be doing these in the new year of 2012.

We are proud of our accomplishments in this crucial time. We are still going to remain here to support all of our members with whatever help you need.  We are hoping that in the future we will have another symposium where we can network face-to-face but in the interim will strive for goals of Webinars and working with our alliance partners in promoting our profession. Any and all help that you, as members, wish to participate in will be appreciated in this endeavor, just let us know.

In closing it has been a pleasure to serve you as your president and I am very happy to give you our new elected officers for 2012.

President:  Loretta Foulkrod   ( lfoulkrod0028@gmail.com )
