March 2010

Hello Carolinas Regional AHDI Friends and Members:

The CRAHDI board has been busy planning our 2010 events so please visit our website often for updates regarding webinars, advocacy updates, symposium news, etc.  Together we can network in our field of medical transcription, make new friends, stay informed, and get involved with various aspects and/or committees within our CRAHDI organization as it relates to us as a regional group as well as at the national level.

We have established several committees and are in much need of volunteers.  A list and description of committees can be found on the website, along with the contact information you will need to get connected with a committee member.

You don't have to be a CRAHDI member to network with our professional association, and you may need some time to check us out and find out if we are a good fit for you.  If you are considering membership in AHDI, or any professional organization, it is important to start with a clear understanding of what a professional association is and a realistic expectation of what that association can accomplish with and for you as a practitioner.  http://www.ahdionline.org/scriptcontent/whyjoin.cfm

I would also like to suggest that you consider attending the annual AHDI Annual Convention Expo, August 4 – 7, 2010 in Austin, Texas.  In this era of rapid change, we are all faced with challenges, as well as new opportunities. It is more important than ever before for healthcare documentation professionals to get connected to the information and resources to remain relevant. Start making your plans to attend ACE 2010 to get the answers and solutions you need to secure your role in the future of our industry. AHDI is an excellent resource for staying informed, and additional information can be found at their website,   http://www.ahdionline.org/scriptcontent/amhub.cfm

Additionally, I would highly encourage you to attend the Carolinas Regional AHDI annual symposium this year, which will be held in Greenville, South Carolina, with a welcome reception Friday evening, October 8, 2010, at the Westin Greenville Hotel, and a full day of educational presentations on Saturday, October 9, 2010 to be held at Greenville Memorial Hospital.  This is a great opportunity to interact, network, and learn from fellow healthcare documentation specialists who are all located within the Carolinas, so this will give us a little more of a local/regional connection to one another, and an opportunity to meet face to face.

If you are new to CRAHDI, I look forward to getting to know you this year, and for those I have had the pleasure of meeting last year, I look forward to seeing you again this year. Please do not hesitate to contact the CRAHDI board members for additional information.  We are happy to be of service to you and look forward to hearing from you!
